While schools are shut down for a while or even for the rest of the year, it is hard to decide what to post on social media and how to share information with parents and students.

Make sure to update school information in Google My Business

Google My Business is a very easy way to update parents and potential new families with new hours and school closings. When someone would look up your school in Google, your information will come up and they can see updated information.

Make daily or weekly videos of announcements

Creating a daily or weekly video with announcements for families and their kids is a fun way to continue a routine. Announcements are looked forward to by students and would be a fun thing for parents to show their kids. Make sure to post the video somewhere all families can view like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, or a newsletter.

Have teachers and other staff take turns reading a book on video

A fun way to keep encouraging your students is to read them books. Maybe you have all your staff read a book and record it and then every other day you post the video of them on Facebook, Instagram or any other social media platform you have.

Make sure to update families with new information

As this pandemic is changing every day and new information is coming out, it is a great idea to keep your families updated with any new information especially new information that affects them or the school.

Share encouraging messages or pictures

At times this time can be very stressful and hard on some families. It is a good idea to share some encouraging messages from your staff or find an encouraging video on YouTube and share it. Everyone can use some extra encouragement during this time of unknown.

Make sure your families have access to resources

Making sure your families have access to resources like homework from teachers, ways to contact teachers or other staff, extra programs that are doing free subscriptions or even coloring pages. This time is hard on all of us and some families need more help than others.
