Helping your children have a great start to the school year, even if it is a little different this year, will help establish a great school year with lots of success.

#1: Make a connection to your children’s teacher

Whether your child is in the classroom or doing school virtual making a connection to your children’s teacher will help your child feel safe in their classroom and also gives your child a way to feel comfortable to ask questions or even make mistakes.

#2: Make a routine

Having a routine in place a couple days before school starts is a great way to start the school year right. Maybe you have a set bedtime for your children or a set time that they need to be awake to get to school in time. Starting these habits now will help make the first day of school go more smoothly.

#3: Create a homework station

Creating a homework station is a great idea for any younger children to establish a place where school work gets done. Even if school is virtual, having a designated place to do school work is a nice thing to have when everyone is at home.

#4: Get involved

Getting involved in your child’s school is a good way to help your child stay active and provides a study break. Maybe your child likes chess or art and your school provides a club for that. Having an extracurricular activity can help your child find what they enjoy to do.
