While schools are shut down and finishing school online, it can be difficult to finish strong. These four tips can be very beneficial as the school year comes to a close!

Plan and accept that the end of the year is hard The end of the year is also difficult with extra testing and getting grades in but during this time of teaching online and not being able to see your students can be extra hard. It can be hard for your students as well not being about to see you everyday. Maybe you plan an extra special Zoom or Google Meet with your class to say one last “see you later” for the summer!
Make sure to cover the important stuff Teaching online can be extremely hard to gage where your students are and if they are fully understanding the material. With school coming to a close, make sure to cover the things that your students need to know to succeed in the next grade. Every student is going to be missing some material so pick the most important material for them to finish out the school year with.
Celebrate the success of your students and yourself Celebrating your students is a huge thing now that you can not see your students face to face. Congratulate your students when they finish the school year as it was probably hard transition for them to learn online. Celebrating yourself is a huge thing as well. You have done an amazing job transitioning from in person teaching to online! You definitely need to celebrate that!
Make the end of the year fun  As the school year comes to a close, make it fun like you would if you were in school. Schedule a time where you can see your students over Zoom or Google Meet and have a dance party together, or find a fun video and send it to your students. Even stopping at your students house to say hi from a distance is a fun way to end the year!
